[ Unlike her he doesn't keep the mask in a bag. His pockets aren't big enough either, but he can strap the mask to the back of his belt well enough and in a way that his jacket covers most of the monstrosity too when he's out and about. When the mask drops by his feet though he pauses, head tilting to the side as he tries to work something out.
It probably looks odd as he pats at his back, feeling the outline of the mask. ]
That... isn't mi-- [ And then there she is, star of the "show" here. Long time no see. The look he gives her clearly shows he wasn't ready for this meeting at all. ] Oh don't worry, I'll pick it up for you. It's noth-- [ He reaches down and whether she sees a flash of his own mask utterly depends on where she's looking. He pauses mid-speech though, finally taking in the design on the mask.
He shifts his movements to scoop it up properly then, eyes re-focusing on her. ]
[In truth, she's very confused because this is.... not how she wanted to run into him again? Admittedly, it's up in the air whether she wanted to run into him again or not in the first place. All she knows is that this is not how she wanted it to happen, if it had to happen at all and she's--
Well, she's wincing. Because that's an awful question.]
N-No..... What kind of barbarian do you think I am...?!
[IT'S NOT LIKE SHE WOULD JUST PUT BLOODY HANDPRINTS ON A MASK?]
[ He takes a step back at her outburst, accidentally holding the mask up higher until he realises and twists the front towards himself, so other people in the street won't see. ]
No, I mean-- [ He holds the mask out then, face down. ] One minute, I'll show you.
[ Though he can't unstrap his own mask without two hands, so once she's got the horrid thing again he pulls his off to show her. ] And before you ask, I'm really not into finger painting.
[ . . . . augh. Even if she doesn't want it back, she knows that it'll return regardless. Which is dumb but Lili's not a fan of exercises in futility. So even if she doesn't want to, she reaches out to take the mask into her hands and sigh.]
[ ...Lili are you serious? He tilts his head, face twisting into an expression that is quite clearly judging her as he holds up his hand and points to it. ] Finger. [ He swipes his hand a bit. ] painting? Painting with your... Nevermind.
[ There's nothing foreign about it??? It's just logic??? ]
Mine is the same though I have seen others with something different.
She finds herself glancing down at her fingers in confusion at that? Is that another form of art that hasn't made it to her country? How strange, she likes to consider herself familiar with most types of painting....
But then she glances back up at him and tilts her head ever so slightly.]
Such as? I've heard of symptoms such as bleeding....
[ Of course she doesn't, queen McGrump. Still. He shoves his own mask away, hiding it back against his belt, behind himself so he doesn't have to look at it. ]
I'm not sure people have accepted it, but I haven't found any answers yet--have you? Even the night I got this, the woman who gave it to me disappeared. Or I couldn't find her again, anyway.
[At the motion, Lili moves to do the same.... She'd rather no one have to be unnerved the mask like she's been. So tucking it back into her bag is the next move.
Though at the questions, she bristles - not particularly at him, but at the situation.]
Some are looking for answers.... there are different masks with different trends but I can't puzzle the reasons why just yet. Yet what I mean is that they seem to just... continue on their days even when their masks are bleeding...?!
Ah. Right. [ He's also guilty of that, but hopefully his explanation of why might help. ]
I know someone who can sense things about magical items and she said it didn't feel malicious. So I haven't been too worried. [ He rubs the back of his neck. ]
[ Well it isn't as if she doesn't have a point, but... ]
It could be worse? [ How helpful of him...?!?!?! ] I mean magically speaking, at the moment they aren't causing any harm just. Look a little--a lot strange but. [ He shrugs. ]
What else can we do? I tried breaking mine and it hasn't done anything but stick itself back together.
I don't think it was random, if that's what you mean. Though I don't know their significance.
[ He isn't the type to go through clues that much. Gaius was the one who aided him with things like that and Gaius isn't here. He can only make theories from what he can see in front of him. ]

[Finger?? Painting????
Merlin, stop speaking a foreign language.]

It's just an expression! A joke! [ He sighs then, mumbling more to himself than to her. ] Do you ever even joke?
[ He twists his own mask them, to look at it. No matter how you look at them, they're creepy though. ]
Bleeding?
no subject
[jokes, okay!! Except she's just going to shuffle a little bit at that, unnerved as she is.]
Yes... Someone that I know has a mask that's bleeding. I don't understand..... How can everyone just accept things like this?
no subject

[Sorry, apparently she still hasn't quite managed to grasp that people are from worlds where this sort of thing isn't... that creepy.
The problem of being a sheltered normal girl.]

It isn't exactly doing anything. [ He raps his knuckles against it. ] See?
no subject
And you're not worried about where the blood seems to be spontaneously coming from...?!
no subject
Even if I was, I don't see what I can do about it at the moment. If something happens, I'll deal with it then.
[ Arrogance tbh... ]

[Really.... what kind of person is she talking to....]
no subject
A little. But whatever is locked in this, whatever spell or whatever it is... it isn't that strong yet. Or at least I don't think so.
If anything, it looks more like a message.
no subject
[That manages to get her to blink. Since there's different kinds of masks-]
Do you mean... they might be intended for different people?
