I mean, I cheated a little, but it probably would have been easier with the HOLOs. [ Though... ] But it wouldn't have had the same feel to it.

[ He has too many good things going on here to miss anything more than the people honestly. It'd be a bit weird for him to miss hygiene or food from his day. Both were awful. ]

Right. I understand. That's good, though, that you were able to build your own things. Not everyone can do that. I think most people use the HOLOs.

What do you have? I mean, if you have customized your place? ...Who do you live with actually?

[ Even if he's told him he doesn't really remember, sorry. ]

I live with Miles Edgeworth. We have a fairly modern setting in most of the flat, but I went with Victorian in my room. I was thinking I might give steampunk a try later, though.

You live with Edgeworth?! [ Well he's unlucky that they're in the middle of the train when his voice raises, but at least Merlin realises and coughs afterwards. ] Sorry. Just wasn't expecting that.

[ Then again they're both a bit... overpolite, aren't they? ] Though I can't say I know what either of those things mean.

[aha! England almost laughs at that reaction. as it is, he smirks, rubbing the back of his neck] But, you know him, though. Did you two not get along?

[ He just... makes a vague handwaving motion. ] I wouldn't say that either, but he's... rather boring.

[ Well he isn't Wrong. ]

[that pulls a chuckle from him. oh, dear. poor Edgeworth]

He has his moments. We get along well, though. We're both quiet, fairly private people with similar interests. We've also shared memories, thanks to CERES.

[ Well at least they get on a bit better now... thank you dark city for letting Merlin show he isn't just an irresponsible idiot. ]

That makes a lot of sense. I joke too much, I think. He just looks irritated most of the time. [ Though he does glance at England for the last part. ] And do you mean you told each other or literally shared, because I've seen both here.

Literally shared. [England's expression becomes a touch annoyed] As in, he was given one of my memories, and I was given one of his. These memories were given without permission. Somehow, that was able to happen. I can't really explain how.

Was it the mirrors or something else? [ Because he knows all too well about the mirrors, but he's also heard about previous situations where people here had that sort of thing happen to them. ]

It was before that, a while ago, actually, even before we were roommates. [hm, whenever England thinks about how long he's been in Cerealia, it always amazes him. sometimes, it feels as though it's been ages longer, other times, it feels like it's only been in the blink of an eye] It was quite a shock, but he was so calm about it. I had already respected him, but I think that ordeal brought us that much closer.

That's pretty impressive. I mean, he does seem like the type to keep his cool in a rough situation. Though I admit I'm a biiiit curious about what he saw. [ He pauses as they get off the train, starting the short walk to the residential area. ]

Though I'll ask about that later. We're almost here.

[the train ride is always so fast. England stretches a bit when they are off, also keeping quiet as they walk back to Merlin's place. what Edgeworth saw, huh? well, he could probably discuss it with Merlin. eventually. after going over that...]

Did you have to go through anything like that? Sharing memories, I mean.

[ He pauses briefly to double check where he is, as though he still feels a little disorientated after getting off the train. The time is a lot shorter than it used to be. ]

Did you not see the mirrors? [ He glances back at him, not answering in full just yet. ]

I'm not sure. [apparently England has not dealt with memory-sharing mirrors. he'd probably remember otherwise] I don't think so, because I can't pin down what you're referring to.

It was in that dark city area, there was a room covered with mirrors in the upper part. Whoever looked at it would show your memories. I'm pretty sure they were the worst ones, too.

Fortunately, I think I missed that. [he can't even recall a room with mirrors. then again, he'd been a little... distracted when they went to the darkened area of the city] But it does sound like something that would happen here.

I'm kind of glad. I tried to stop someone else from going in there but it was too late. [ He steps into his apartment block finally, walking straight to the elevator to press the button. There's a short wait while it comes down, but he steps inside once the doors open. ]

If we'd wanted to share those memories, we would have told people already.

[England follows along, looking around at the scenery. once they are in the elevator, his eyes settle on Merlin again] Exactly. There has been so much invasion of privacy here, it feels like we're on display. [his mouth twists into a frown. ah, talking about this leaves a bitter taste in his mouth, and he doesn't want that. not when they're having a good day. thank goodness for the aroma coming from his bag. that's enough to soothe him before he gets into a rant] Lately, though, it seems like things have slowed down.

Does it? [ He hasn't been here long enough to make comparisons to anything before. He's heard about the jungle and volcanoes but... ]

I really wouldn't know about before, I've only been here a month or two but... isn't it good if it's slowing down?

Well, yes and no. I mean, we just got those robots, and something is bound to happen with them. [he doesn't even know] So it might only be the calm before the storm.

[ Merlin shrugs. ]

I didn't activate mine. And I'm not worried. [ Should he be??? Maybe. ] If I'm not going to be worried about an alien that wants to rip my face off and cut out my tongue, why would I worry about a robot?

[ He nudges England with his elbow when the elevator pings for his floor. ]

[aha! he steps out of the elevator first] I suppose that's one way of looking at it. I think I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop. [he means he is a worrier. worrying all the time...]
